General Information: Currently this lettuce is difficult to find commercially. However, with increased exposure, more growers may begin to harvest these deep green, diamond shaped leaves. These succulent leaves were named "miner's lettuce" because they were eaten by the California gold miners. Miner's lettuce is a native plant that grows in many hillside regions of the west coast. The flavor is mild, yet memorable, making it a perfect salad fixing. High in vitamin C.
